Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department Members

Richard Jordan, Chief and Board Chair

Chief Jordan has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 1972 and was one of the original founding members of the department. Jordan gained his license as an EMT in 1980 and his paramedic in 1984. Over the last forty plus years in EMS he as worked and managed at numerous ambulance services. Jordan is also a former flight medic with St. Margrets LifeFlight for about 8 years and he also flew on fixed wing aircraft for 8 years. As well as his work in the medical field he also has his certification in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations as well as Fire Instructor I. On top of everything Jordan was one of the original officers of the department and has served as the fire chief for over twenty-five years.

Stephen Wilson, Assistant Chief and Board Member

Assistant Chief Wilson has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 1992. He is a native of Highland Home and graduated from Highland Home School. Wilson is a Nationally Registered certified paramedic licensed to practice in AL, FL, and MS. Wilson gained his associates degree in paramedic from H. Council Trenholm State Technical College and his bachelors degree in Emergency Medical Services Management from the University of South Alabama. Wilson is also certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II, and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations as well as Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I. Wilson oversees the business operations along with responding to incidents. Wilson also serves as the Vice-President of the Crenshaw County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments, Chairperson of the Crenshaw County 911 Board, Board Member of the Alabama Association of Ambulance Services, and a member of the State Emergency Medical Control Committee for the state of Alabama Office of EMS.

Michael Wallace, Captain and Board Member

Captain Wallace has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2010. Wallace holds many certifications in both fire and EMS. Wallace is a Nationally Registered Paramedic with a Critical Care Paramedic Certification and Tactical Paramedic Certification. Wallace is also certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Technical Rope Rescue: Awareness and Operations as well as Fire Instructor I.

Jonathon Bynog, Lieutenant

Lieutenant Bynog has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2016. Bynog is certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations/WMD. Bynog graduated from Highland Home High School.

Steve Brown, Sergeant and Board Member

Sergeant Brown has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 1995. Brown, a long time member of the department has been in the fire and EMS service for decades. Brown obtained his paramedic certification in 2001. Brown worked at CARE Ambulance for over 15 years in Montgomery. He currently is the supervisor over an emergency response team at a major manufacturing company.

Kerry Wilson, Firefighter

Firefighter Wilson has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 1998. She is a native of Highland Home and graduated from Highland Home School. Wilson is a third generation firefighter. Firefighter Wilson serves as the Treasurer of the department. Wilson gained her certification as a Nationally Registered EMT in 2015 and is also certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations. She is also the only certified female firefighter in the department.

Blake Wilson, Firefighter

Firefighter Wilson has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2019. Wilson has been around the fire and EMS service all of his life and is a fourth generation firefighter. Wilson grew up around Highland Home and graduated from Highland Home School. Wilson gained his EMT certification in 2020 and is also certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations/WMD, Technical Rope Rescue: Awareness and Operations as well as Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I. Wilson oversees most of the technology of the department making sure all are in working order and all records are up to date. He is also in charge of making sure all truck’s medical equipment is stocked and up to date. Aside from our department he works for Luverne Rescue and has been with them since 2021.  

Blain Wilson, Firefighter

Firefighter Wilson has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2022. Wilson is certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations/WMD. Wilson is a young but dedicated member that has been around the fire service most of his life. Like his older brother he has grown up around the fire service and is another fourth generation to be in the department. Wilson grew up in Highland Home and graduated from Highland Home School. Wilson also works as a tele-communicator at Crenshaw County’s E-911.

James Wallace, Firefighter

Firefighter Wallace has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2019. Outside of our department he also works for GEMS Ambulance. Firefighter Wallace is certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations/WMD and Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I. Wallace obtained his EMT certification in 2020 and Paramedic certification in 2023.

Kristy Wallace, Firefighter

Firefighter Wallace has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2019. Wallace obtained her EMT certification in 2022.

Chris White, Firefighter

Firefighter White has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2020. White is from Highland Home and graduated from Highland Home School in 2000. White is certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations/WMD.

Dalton Commander, Firefighter

Firefighter Commander has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2022. Like the Wilson brothers Commander has been around the fire service most of his life. Commander another native of Highland Home graduated from Highland Home School. Commander is certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations/WMD. 

Charlie McVay, Firefighter

Firefighter McVay has been with Highland Home Fire Rescue Department since 2022. McVay is a native of Highland Home and a graduate of Highland Home School.

J. W. Bynog, Firefighter

Firefighter Bynog has been with Highland Home Fire and Rescue Department since 2024.

David Evjen, Firefighter

Firefighter Evjen has been with Highland Home Fire Rescue Department since 2009. Evjen is certified in Firefighter 160, Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations.

Molli Wallace, Firefighter

Firefighter Wallace has been with Highland Home Fire Rescue Department since 2022. Wallace has served as the Secretary of the department since 2024.
